JOB PURPOSE

Analyse, execute, facilitate and monitor the tasks for Corporate Planning, Performance and Risk Management by executing strategic planning initiatives, reviewing strategies and business plans, reporting on business performance and risks and conducting special projects in line with the objectives to support and achieve the goals and targets as delineated by the vision, mission and aspiration of Towards Sustainable Global Prominence.

KEY ACCOUNTABILITIES

• Corporate Strategic Planning

Analyse, execute and monitor the strategic initiatives of the university by understanding the business requirements and suggesting the appropriate targets to achieve the goals and targets as delineated by the vision, mission and aspiration of “Towards Sustainable Global Prominence”.

• University Performance Review (Tier 1)

Analyse, execute and monitor university performance management and measurement by updating the status of implementation of key strategies, suggesting recommendations for improvement and conducting continuous engagement with key owners and stakeholders in order to increase efficiency and effectiveness of the operations and processes of the university.

• Business Risk Management

Facilitate and execute business risk management for the university by executing the development and implementation of PETRONAS Risk Management (PRM) framework inclusive of reporting, monitoring and mitigation to ensure effective risk governance and mitigation.

• Secretariat for Strategic Platforms  

Assist, arrange and execute the strategic discussion platforms of the university with PETRONAS and external advisors by acting as secretariat for the UTP Academic Advisory Council (AAC) and acting as liaison officer with PETRONAS education division in order to share, assess and improve the progress of the university in align with its vision, mission and aspiration of Towards Sustainable Global Prominence.

• Business Review and Special Projects

Analyse and execute research and studies for selected critical subjects as and when required by the management by 1) conducting strategic analysis and benchmarking, 2) suggesting effective solutions to the business, 3) preparing intervention plans and 4) providing analysis on the current trends to support the growth and sustainability of the university.

REQUIREMENTS

• Recognised Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Risk Enterprise/ Risk Management or in any relevant field

• Good written and verbal communication skills

• Good interpersonal skills

• Good analytical abilities

UTP is also ranked 233rd in the QS World University Rankings 2017 by Faculty for its Engineering and Technology Faculty.

UTP has improved its standing in the QS World University Rankings by Subject 2017.  Chemical Engineering and Mechanical Engineering have maintained their position as Top 150 and Top 200 respectively.   Meanwhile, Electrical Engineering has improved its rank to be in the Top 200 and Computer Sciences & Information Systems has managed to place itself in the Top 300.

Apart from the QS rankings, UTP has made the list in The Times Higher Education (THE) World University Rankings 2016-2017 for the first time and is ranked in the 601-800 band.

UTP has also made its debut in the prestigious THE BRICS & Emerging Economies Rankings 2017, coming in at 91st.  This placed UTP among the top 100 best research-led universities in the developing world.

In addition, UTP has made its maiden entrance into the THE Asia University Rankings 2017 and is ranked between 141 – 150.  It has also debuted in the THE Young University Rankings 2017 and is ranked between 151 – 200.  It is also ranked at 131-140 in the newly introduced THE Asia-Pacific University Rankings 2017.

The university conducts extensive research activities in collaboration with PETRONAS and other institutions and industries, locally and abroad, on six research focus and niche areas.  They are sustainable living, transport infrastructure, health analytics, hydrocarbon recovery, contaminant management and autonomous system.

UTP is the first and only private university to be awarded a six-star rating (the highest performance level) by Ministry of Higher Education Malaysia for its research, development and commercialisation efforts under the Malaysia Research Assessment Rating System (MyRA). UTP continues to provide distinctive educational opportunities to its students with the rating of Six Star or outstanding status in the Rating System for Malaysian Higher Education 2017 (SETARA)
