Job Responsibilities :
Structural Engineering Manager responsibilities will include performing and managing simple and complex analysis, design and documentation of various steel racking structures with emphasis on seismic pallet racking/structure, steel platform and mezzanines, structure replacements and rehabilitations as well as conducting field investigation and construction phase observation. The Senior Structural Engineer will also direct subordinate staff and assist with business development activities.
Mentor Structural Engineers and facilitate a holistic understanding as to the scope and plan for projects
Work closely with production engineering department within the company to ensure hardware is available for projects and working properly
Define clear goals for all aspects of a project and develop steps for their proper execution
Provide detailed specifications for proposed solutions including time and scope involved
Account for possible project challenges or constraints and proactively seek to manage challenges
Assist other department engineers in creating practical demonstrations of proposed solutions and demonstrating them to other members of the team
Work alongside project management teams to successfully monitor progress and implementation of initiatives
Establish a framework for necessary contributions from various departments and facilitate their collaboration
Using computer modelling simulations to predict how structures will act under varying conditions, i.e. seismic or high winds
Ensuring projects meet legal, environmental and health and safety standards
Advising on suitable materials for racking structure design
Inspecting buildings to assess their structural integrity
Advising on racking repairs, maintenace or
Preparing bids for tender
Working with designers to develop construction plans and blueprints
Improve manufacturing processes and advance scientific research.
Develop overall concepts for a new product.
Check technical accuracy of work.
Establish administrative policies, procedures, and standards.
Coordinate activities of division with other division/department/regional offices or organizations.
Requirement
Experience developing schematics for structures in accordance with client specifications and safety standards
Project development and leadership skills are essential
Professional work experience in developing blueprints and designs for proposed structures
Extensive knowledge and experience working with various operating systems
Ability to work with various departments to facilitate the orderly execution of a proposed project plan
Experience with software engineering, customer experience and design architecture
Advanced understanding of build materials, techniques and processes
Up to date understanding of best practices regarding building safety measures
Must be knowledgeable and experienced with various code such as BS, EN, UBC, AISC, ACI, IBC, and ASCE codes. Must be proficient in ASD and/or LRFD design methodologies
